APPAM/APPE# Mixed Vegetable appam# HEALTHY BREAKFAST Recipe
Appe is a famous snack recipe in Maharashtra. There are two main types of Appe spicy and sweet Appe. Spicy Appe are prepared with different ingredients and various methods. In this video I am showing spicy appe with mix channa dal, urad dal and rice. aape is a traditional fermentation method. So try this.
INGREDIENTS:
In first step:
2 glass rice (Chaval)
1 bowl black gram (Urad dal)
1 tsp fenugreek seeds(Methi dana)
In second step:
3-4 tbsp oil
1 tsp musterd seeds
3-4 chopped green chillies (as per taste)
1 chopped onions
1 tomato
Some vegetables like carrot, capsicum etc.
7-8 chopped curry leaves or chopped coriander leaves
Salt as per taste
Instructions
All grams(dal) and rise and
fenugreek seeds wash it 2 times with water and then add required amount of water in it.
Cover bowls and allow to soak dal and
rice for 4-5 hours. After 4-5 hours drain water and grind soaked dal for a fine
paste and grind soaked rice for coarse paste
by adding some water. Now mix grinded dal and rice together in big bowl
or utensil. Cover with lid and place at warm place and allow to ferment for over
night or 10-12 hours.
After 10-12 hours, heat 1 tbsp oil in a tadka pan and add
musterd seeds and allow to crackle it and 3-4 chopped green chillies. Add some vegetables like chopped onion tomato, carrot, capsicum etc.
and some chopped curry leaves or chopped coriander leaves. The mixture is ready to pure in the ferment
batter and mix all ingredients gently and check for medium thick consistency of
the batter.
Now heat the aape mold pan and
add little oil in each mold. Then switch
the flame low and add batter in each mold with the help of spoon and Cover the pan and allow to cook aape for 5
minutes on medium flame. After that add little oil on upper side of appe and
turn the side of all appe. Again allow
to cook it for 5 minutes on medium flame. When cook properly from both sides,
transfer it in serving plate.
Aape are ready, always serve
hot with coconut /tomato /peanut chutney.
Tip: In witnter season cover batter utensil
with thick cotton cloth while fermentation, it will help to ferment batter
easily. You can store fermented batter in fridge for 1 -2 day in a airtight
container before add salt and other ingredients.
